Best of the Adirondacks Photo Tours
Designed to provide enthusiastic landscape photographers with an opportunity to photograph a diversity of Adirondack locations, across several regions of the Park, we schedule this weekend tour once each season. These are open-enrollment tours, well-suited for people who want to join a group of other photographers.
Destinations vary with each season so every trip is different. Specific locations for each destination will be chosen based upon prevailing conditions, but each tour will include a dusk shoot on Saturday evening and a dawn shoot the following morning. Our "hit list" for each destination includes more locations than we could possibly shoot and we may explore mountaintop vistas, waterfalls, streams and ponds, sloughs, foliage or many other possibilities as we adapt to weather and light conditions. To reach some of the locations you need to be capable of hiking a mile or so while carrying outdoor essentials and your photography gear.
For all of these tours, we limit ratios to a maximum of 3 participants per guide and we limit enrollment to a maximum of 6 participants per group, with two guides. This tour can also be booked privately, for you or your group.
These tours meet at our first photography location for each destination so you can get started shooting if you arrive a bit early. We meet in the late morning on Saturday (the meeting time varies with day length) and photograph throughout the day, with a break for dinner before we go out for sunset. On Sunday we meet before dawn for a sunrise shoot, take a breakfast break, then shoot through mid-afternoon. During the tour we'll travel to the locations by carpool. We eat dinner and breakfast in local restaurants and stop for lunch (pack what you enjoy) between locations. Arriving after dark and departing before dawn, there's not much time to enjoy fancy accommodations so we generally stay in affordable lodging. If you prefer to stay elsewhere we can arrange for you to meet us. When you inquire about a specific tour we'll provide all the details about meeting times and places, lodging and other important information.
