Night Climbing on Roaring Brook Falls
Roaring Brook Falls, Chapel Pass, Climber: Heather Henderson-Campbell
Heather and Leigh were psyched to ice climb at night even though it would be cold and the only light while climbing would be from their headlamps. We got there early and placed several remote-controlled flashes on the climb, attaching the flashes to ice screws. An additional light source, mounted onto a long pole, reflected off the ice at the bottom of the pitch. In this photo, taken at precisely the moment when Heather places her ice tool, the flying ice chips catch light from one of the triggered flash units.
